CPR, First Aid, and Wilderness First Aid @ LHC Activity Center

Longhorn Council,  in partnership with ECSI (Emergency Care and Safety Institute), is sponsoring First Aid Training at the Longhorn Activity Center, 5350 Basswood Boulevard, Fort Worth. ECSI training courses were developed in association with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Each WFA attendee at a Longhorn Activity Center weekend class will receive one $50 off coupon for a Longhorn Council summer camp. The coupon must be redeemed within one year and can be used only by a member of the attendee’s unit.

Rock Climbing Instructor Course

Unlimited enrollment, pre-reg. required.  $55.
These classes are designed to certify adults to lead rock climbing and rappelling activities for single and multi-unit activities. Includes a Tower Certification Class that covers the SR2 Tower and the 2 towers at the Longhorn Activity Center in Fort Worth.

The course is held Friday evening through Sunday on the dates listed on the reverse. Check in at the SR2 Tower at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch on Friday night. The fee includes all meals from breakfast on Saturday to lunch on Sunday. Please bring something for a cracker-barrel Friday night. Plan to arrive early and be prepared to start class no later than 8:00 p.m. on Friday, as the course will begin promptly. We will try and dismiss by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. You will not need to make a camp reservation. All registrations must be prepaid. After registering, participants will receive the course information and an outline of knots participants are expected to know on arrival for the class. The required course manual for climbing courses is the BSA’s Topping Out, A BSA Climbing/Rappelling Manual, available at Longhorn Council Scout Shops. There is a $50 non-refundable fee due at time of application.

Brazos River Canoe Races

Spend a day on the Brazos River at Worth Ranch! Parent and Youth Teams are Welcome. Canoes provided.

Two Races: 6-mile Fun Race; 14 mile Advanced Race for teams of experienced canoeists.

Lunch, boats, equipment, awards, and supper provided.

Open to Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, and adults.  All must be swimmers.  Camping is open all weekend.

New for 2020: The April 18th Cub Family Adventure is now a Rocket Academy!

The camp Dining Hall is transformed into the Rocket Building Hangar, as parents and Cub Scouts come together to design their very own Rocket. It’s a family campout with NASA Displays and activities, model rockets, water rockets, chemical rockets, air rockets, and more!

Rocket Launching & Fun for individual families and entire Packs!  You get to assemble, paint, and place your own rocket’s decals, and in the afternoon follow the Launch Director’s commands and launch your rocket. Siblings welcome.
